This live barrel of NW style sour red ale was initially aged for six months in French oak wine barrels, then additionally aged on elderberries. Sharp wine, dark raisins, red grapes and cereal notes greet you on the nose. Tart dark fruit and grapes on the palate lead to a sparkling crisp dry finish with hints of fresh elderberries and grape skins.

Bottle: Poured a dark cloudy copper color ale with a small foamy head with limited retention and some lacing. Aroma of tart and sour elderberry notes is interesting. Taste is a mix of vinous notes with some oak and tart notes of elderberry with light acidic notes also noticeable. Body is full with limited filtration and good carbonation. Well done with intense flavours while retaining some drinkability.

Bottle. Elderberry, caramel malt, and straw aroma. Amber with small head. Moderately sweet elderberry, caramel malt, moderately sour vinegar/citric acid, and mildly bitter hay flavor. Good body. Nice beer - impossible to drink without quoting Monty Python.

Towering tan head over opaque red-brown beer. Nose like blue/billberry, but also lactic acid, wood, and something strong fusely:estrery that betrays the true elderberry smell. Very sour, lactic, dark/red fruit, lemon, and a wild, spicy character. Bit of rotten fruit, too, in the background - again the elderberry, which sports this pugnancy (which drove me mad in my youth, being forced to down elderberry syrup against colds...)? The taste of (unripe, IMO) grapeskins, as suggested, is also very remarkable. Very tart, dry-out effet, acidthinning and -burn. Again a very tart USA sour. A bit of balance wouldn’t hurt, I would dare to suggest.
