This NW style sour ale is a strong blond ale aged in chardonnay barrels for up to 12 months, then aged with dried white figs and lemon peel or up to 12 more months. Aromas of sweet figs, golden raisins, and citrus zest are the first to be noticed. Hints of white wine grapes, lemon peel, and sweet figs roll across the palate, leading to a crisp lemon tartness in the finish that leaves a lingering sweetness on the tongue.

On tap at the Barrel House. A very interesting brew. The base Blonde Ale does come through. Pours a cloudy yellow color with a large white head. A big sweet nose of barrel and spices. The flavor is sour woody notes, lemon zest, tart berries, a mellow earthy flavor..maybe figs. Very good. Unusual. Not super tart.

Poured from the tap. Clear medium orange yellow with white head. Aroma is sour with white grape and fig. Citrusy figgy sweetness with white grape wine. Sweetness lingers, mild sourness, medium-light body.

Mmmm...delicious though I can't seem to pull out any white figs no matter how hard I try but then again, I have no idea of what to expect..

Bottle. Pours with a hazy golden hued body with no head. Aromas are funky and waxy, fruity, some mango, light lemon zest and grassy lactones. Flavors are fruity, medium acidity, light apricot stone fruit notes, lemon, white wine. A bit jammy. Low to no carbonation which really killed it. A bright hit of carbonic acid really would have helped brighten everything up.

On tap at Cascade, pours a hazy golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out strong chardonnay notes, followed by lemon peel. Not really any notice of the figs on the nose. Flavour is very complex, bringing out tart white wine notes, followed by figs and lemon peel. The vinous qualities are what shine the most, with the fruit mostly subdued, especially the figs - strange since it's named after the figs. Delicious stuff in small quantities.

Bottle, many thanks to Bruce! It pours golden-amber with a quickly dissipating white head. The nose is rather fragrant, vinous, white grape, apricot, fresh fig and wood. The taste is initially tart, sour apricot, peach, earth, wood, lemon, acidic, faint caramel, lemon and tart white wine with a dry finish. Medium body and fine, prickly carbonation. Tart and tasty, another quality sour from Cascade.

Tasting at Bruce’s pad. Thanks again to Bruce for hauling back another rarity. Pretty much clear gold beer, residual bubbly white head. Light palate, mildly crisp. Light sourness, a little Worcester sauce. Nice white wine vibe that goes well with the crisp finish.

Bottle at Bruce’s, London. Thanks to Bruce for this Pacific NW rarity. Pours Lilly hazy gold with a slight, white foam head. Some tangy citrus in the nose, hints of herbs, light funk. Light to medium sweet flavor, some funk, apricots, orange and tangerine, moderate tang. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Decent sweetness to finish, further citrus, apricot, some peach, pleasant sourness. Very fresh and refreshing. Wonderful.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy yellow gold with a medium frothy off white head that leaves sticky lacing. The aroma is apricot, citrus, funk, and vinegar. Thin mouthfeel with a white grape flavor and lemon with light vinegar. Good.
