This NW style sour ale is a strong blond ale aged in chardonnay barrels for up to 12 months, then aged with dried white figs and lemon peel or up to 12 more months. Aromas of sweet figs, golden raisins, and citrus zest are the first to be noticed. Hints of white wine grapes, lemon peel, and sweet figs roll across the palate, leading to a crisp lemon tartness in the finish that leaves a lingering sweetness on the tongue.

2014 sample at the Barrel House. This beer pours a hazy orange-gold color with a medium thin white head that dissipates steadily to an outer ring. Short strings of lacing. The aroma consists of dark fruit, yeast and malt. Full-bodied with flavors of figs, tart citrus, yeast and malt. The finish is fruity with a figgy aftertaste. Pretty good all around.

Bottle pour at the May 1st DC Tasting. Poured a hazy dark golden color with a fizzy white head. Aroma has lots of figs, lots of acidity, light bitter finish. Not my favorite from them, but it’s tasty.
