This pitch black oatmeal stout is as rich and complex as they come, but as smooth as chocolate milkshake.
Smoky, coffee and cacao aromas lead into rich chocolate ganache, bitter espresso and cocoa powder, with a warming plum brandy hit and a roasty bitter finish that balances out the chewy sweetness, while a liquid honeycomb mouth-feel lifts the bitterness and lets the vanilla shine through.
Malts: Carafa, Chocolate, Crystal, Flaked Oats, Pale, Wheat
Hops: Bramling Cross, Sorachi Ace, Willamette

Butelka 330ml (27.05.2020).

Pitch black color with big dark beige head. Aroma is a bit lacto, big coffee, some vanilla, cocoa, black chocolate. Taste is sweet and bitter, coffee, the lacto feeling comes through again, maybe liquorice, cocoa. Hints of vanilla again. Bitter espresso-like finish with just a little bit of a booze burn. Quite vibrant and fresh, slightly sourish maybe? Carbonation is tickling, interesting. I have to say this is perfectly carried out, and has a good amount of character. Not the perfect fit to my palate, but a project to be appreciated. And 9% is on the lower end for Impstout ABV, and it is very rich for that! Aww, after some time, the aroma becomes quite ethanolic. Too bad.
