This pitch black oatmeal stout is as rich and complex as they come, but as smooth as chocolate milkshake.
Smoky, coffee and cacao aromas lead into rich chocolate ganache, bitter espresso and cocoa powder, with a warming plum brandy hit and a roasty bitter finish that balances out the chewy sweetness, while a liquid honeycomb mouth-feel lifts the bitterness and lets the vanilla shine through.
Malts: Carafa, Chocolate, Crystal, Flaked Oats, Pale, Wheat
Hops: Bramling Cross, Sorachi Ace, Willamette

Pours viscously to a deep-brown, almost black beer under a good, stable, dark rubiginous head. Surprising nose, with initially an outspoken saltiness, metalslag, roast, meatgravy, scorched malt. Roast & vanilla vying for dominance. Sweet, with roasted/burnt bitterness. Mocha, in a bitter version with cacaopowder. Very rich & thick; viscous texture. Good carbonation though. Alcohol warmth and a long lasting roasted aftertaste. Take on Imperial Stout with a twist. Not necessarily for the better.

Sehr gut! 10/12/12/12/12/12

Bottle from Kris Wines, Holloway. Black pour with a tan head. Aromas of dark roast coffee, chocolate, vanilla, raisin, dark fruit and sweet spice which segues nicely into the flavour. Very tasty.
