This pitch black oatmeal stout is as rich and complex as they come, but as smooth as chocolate milkshake.
Smoky, coffee and cacao aromas lead into rich chocolate ganache, bitter espresso and cocoa powder, with a warming plum brandy hit and a roasty bitter finish that balances out the chewy sweetness, while a liquid honeycomb mouth-feel lifts the bitterness and lets the vanilla shine through.
Malts: Carafa, Chocolate, Crystal, Flaked Oats, Pale, Wheat
Hops: Bramling Cross, Sorachi Ace, Willamette

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines. Cotteridge, Birmingham, consumed at home Thursday 19th November 2015 Pours black with a brown head, some tar and molasses and a bit of PX on the nose. Creamy in the mouth but with some liquorice, milky with plenty of milk chocolate. An enjoyable beer. A7 A4 T8 P4 Ov15 3.8

330ml bottle from Brewdog online store. Pours black in colour with a brown foam head and aroma of roast malt, dark chocolate, molasses. Taste is roasted malt, dark fruits, sweetish, vanilla, brown sugar, coffee & chocolate, earthy and bitter, slightly boozy. Smooth mouthfeel, full to medium bodied, soft carbonation, roast bitter finish. Very drinkable.

Bottle. Cotteridge. Clear, very dark brown. Ring of mocha coloured head. Tangy fruits. Quite vinous. Some fudgy, vanilla sweetness. Taste is thick, fruity sweet. Light, roast bitterness. A bit boozy. A bit too much fizz. Finishes long, woody, slightly boozy bitter. Overall, too thin and fizzy to match the boozy warmth.

Bottle. Black oily pour, creamy brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, booze and cacao. Taste has rich chocolate, roasted malt, creamy cacao and bitters. Nice chocolaty finish.

Bottled 330ml. -from Magic Beer Room Zagreb. Deep black coloured, medium sized dark brown head, chocolate and wood in the nose. Roasted malt, dark chocolate, slightly spicy and notes of vanilla with mild roasty finish. Very smooth, alcohol well hidden.

(Keg at OlutExpo 2015) The beer poured black. Its head was small and lightly brown. Aroma had burnt matls, chocolate and liquorice. Palate was full bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were burnt malts, chocolate, coffee, sweetness and bitterness. Aftertaste was burnt and bitter. A nice strong and still soft stout.

[9/19/15] Bottle at Brewdog Brussels. Black with a brown head. Aroma of chocolate, liqueur, licorice, vanilla, coffee, some fruitiness and a bit of alcohol. Bittersweet flavor, roasty, with dark chocolate, coffee, liqueur, licorice, a bit of fruitiness, and a bitter finish, a bit boozy. Pretty full-bodied.

Bottle from, oh I don’t remember, it was at the back of the cupboard. Black colour with a tan head. Aroma has vanilla, chocolate, coffee and roasted malt. The taste had a decent roasted finish.
