For the second beer in the Hop Adventure Series we have chosen Galaxy hops from Australia which contribute a unique passionfruit flavour combined with some citrus and peach. The beer’s style is a Single Hop India Pale Ale meaning one hop was used for bittering, aroma and several doses of dry-hopping.

Bottle. Malty nose, rather lager-like, okj hop, with a bit of lemon and minerals, but not much Galaxy character specifically. Deep gold with lace. Malty, lager-like flavor with biscuits, grass, honey, and some ok bitteriness in the finish. Tastes a bit old and thing. Oily body. Ok.

Bottle, Tolkien’s, Zagreb. Golden body, small white head. Medium aroma, the hop taking over soon - sweaty socks (in a good way) meeting tropical fruit compote, vague elder and bubblegum. Galaxy is a nice hop indeed. The taste... eh... tropical fruit diluted in hard water. Did they treat the water at all? Hopiness is all it has, and it’s good hoppiness, mind you, but there was supposed to be some balance. Even in a single hop beer. As a beer it’s saved by the hop really, otherwise it would be sub-par.

Bottled 500ml. -at Sheridan’s Pub Zagreb. Pale golden coloured, medium sized white head, citrusy hoppy nose. Moderate malty, light caramel, citrusy hoppy and grassy notes with good bitterness. Also bitter finish and aftertaste. After not so good Sorachi Ace this one is really nice surprise.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Max’s place. Thanks Tom L. Clear golden. Aroma of skunky hops, a bit fruity. Flavor has mild sweetish malt, and skunky fruity hops with some bitterness. Medium-bodied.

Pours a clear yellow golden color, topped with a large and quite lasting and solid white head. Moderate strength of aroma. Citruses and some other tropical fruits. Starts a bit herbal. Moderate bitterness, with some sweet fruity feel in the finish and aftertaste. Medium light, fresh feel with some more pronounced herbal feel. Decent one.

Bottle from O’Brien’s, Athlone [061115]
Blonde, clear, frothy white head
Aroma of soft zest, bit grassy, good light malt background lets the hops through, slight fruit
Taste of citrus zest, fairly bitter zest, nice light sweet pale malts, touch herbal, grassy notes, slight light biscuit malt, decent flavour
Palate - Soft carb, medium body, fairly bitter, good bitter sweet balance, clean palate, quite refreshing. FInish gets more bitter, slightly dry, nice bitter zest
Overall - Good beer, better than the Sorachi Ace one. Refreshing change from over malted Irish craft pale ales. I think it’s the best pale ale I’ve tried from this brewery
