Beer flight choice at the Hanging Bat, cask, one-third pint. Low head, laces nicely, jet black body. Roasted malt-fruity nose with a spicy touch. Red fruits, juicy malts, mild dark spices and anise included in the taste profile. Dry, bitter roasted ending. Well balanced. Medium bodied. Desirable and pleasant (Edinburgh 10.08.2013).

Cask at the Cask, Pimlico, 30/08/13. Light black with a good looking tan head. Nose is light roast, chocolate, sugars, tangy berry fruit. Taste comprises milk chocolate, liqourice, brown sugars, toffee fudge. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, smooth on the palate, dry finale. Nice stuff but more akin to a sweet stout than a CDA for me!

Cask at CASK. It pours darkest brown with a small tan head. The nose is roasted malt, earth, light smoke, coffee grinds, grapefruit and pepper. The taste is rich, juicy, roasty, coffee, earth, spice, cocoa, mild acidity, liquorice and dark with a dry, bitter finish. Med+body, soft carbonation and slightly sticky mouth-feel. Punches above its weight for sure. Pretty damn tasty.
