This crystal-clear tawny ale has an appealing rich and foamy head. The aroma is a heady mix of tropical hop spice, roast barley and alcoholic liqueur-like notes. The flavour is bittersweet with pronounced alcoholic notes, again with a fruity, liqueur character. The beer is warming but not over-full, the sweetness is balanced by a good measure of hop bitterness. The finish is initially sweet and full, slowly giving way to warming alcohol and dry fruitiness.

From cask @ The Argylls Arm. This is a almost clear one, deeper copper golden in color and a small but persistent bubbly white cask head on the top. Smells mild. Soft caramel sweet, it has a little sweet fruitiness also. Soft nutty. Not horrible to smell at. Tastes like it should. Soft caramelly, some butter here. Near flat on the bubbles and it's soft gliding and mild oily in the mouth. Again, a little fruitiness here. As is the classic kinda light boring English touch this one has. Ends softly dry with hints of lemon and alcohol. Does the job. 15.08.2014
