Cask at Dog Inn, Burton on Trent. Pours a very dark reddish-brown with a small cream head and good lacing. There’s malts and sweet milk chocolate in the aroma. But the mouth is totally different There’s an immediate hit of bitter coffee grounds, quickly followed by roasted malts, tar, and liquorice, with some underlying caramel sweetness. A little smokiness in the texture too. Bitterness lasts into the finish. Great is great – it’s got plenty of oomph !
