A smooth strong Belgian style ale. Complex combinations of flavours - malt, caramel, raisins, dates, woodiness, biscuit. The sweet flavours hit you straight away, but this immediately dissipates into a light bitterness, with a smooth mouthfeel.

Cask at the liberty bounds jdw. Aroma is candy floss and candy apple. Blood red copper coloured pour with a fleeting off white head. Flavour is caramel toffee apple, sweet raisin and dried fruits. Some treacle in the finish. Medium sticky sugary body with light carbonation. Middle of the road.

Cask at the Moon on the Square (JDW), Feltham. An attractive copper colour with a loose cream head; rather yeasty aroma - this is what marks out the Belgian style to me; full bodied, dry and grainy in the mouth but also sweet and fruity at the same time - defintely a beer to sip and savour; then a really dry finish. Pretty good stuff.
