Blizzard Imperial Porter är bryggd med en komplex maltbas samt rörsocker och honung. Den traditionella humlingen har fått en modernt amerikansk touch. Fatlagring sex månader på franska Banyulsfat ger en ytterligare dimension till ölet. Banyuls ligger i södra Frankrike på gränsen mot Spanien. Här tillverkas ett förstärkt vin där jäsningen avbryts genom tillsats av sprit. Druvmustens naturliga sötma ger ett vin som är mycket likt Port. Detta vin har lagrats minst 10 månader på franska ekfat. Lagringen av Blizzard på dessa fat bidrar med russinfruktighet från druvorna liksom fruktsyra, och garvsyra från ekträet.

Bottled:
Made with ten kinds of malt, eight varieties of hops, honey and cane sugar. But all you can taste is the taste of white wine and oak barrels. Not a success in my book.

Bottle at The Cad’s 10 yr Shindig. Thanks to Lars. It pours deep brown/black with a small tan head. The nose is sweet, rich roast, candy, vanilla, toasty coconut, vinous, rye bread, treacle, molasses and chocolate brownie. The taste is rich, rather sweet, roasted malt, coffee, mild acidity, plenty of wood, earth, toasty, ash and dark fruits with a dry finish. Fulsome body, moderate+ carbonation and foamy mouth-feel. Rich, but not overly drinkable unfortunately. Still not bad.

Pours dark brown with a medium foamy tan head. Aroma and taste of raisin, caramel, brown sugar, honey and some vinous and boozy notes. Medium body and pretty smooth.

Bottled at Nöjesguidens Ölmässa. Black with beige head. Port and coffee dominate the nose. Mid sweet with full body and clean, rounded mouthfeel. Full flavoured - coffee, port and licorice dominates. Warming finish.
