Brewed to Henry Harvey’s Porter recipe of 1859. Pale, crystal and black malts combine with a generous hop grist of Fuggles and Goldings. Full and rounded with roasted malts to the fore. It is conditioned in cask for four weeks before being released from the brewery cellars.
Harvey’s Porter was first in its class and overall runner-up at the 1995 GBBF at Olympia. In 1999 it was chosen as the ‘Ultimate Pizza Beer’ in the Beauty of Hops awards.

Tap at Charlie’s Bar, Copenhagen. Poured a dark mahogany with a round bubbly light tan head. The aroma is dry dusty roasted malt. The flavour is light bitter with a watery light hop roasted malt palate. Light bodied with flat carbonation. Too light for a porter and lacks flavour.

Full pint served at the right drinking temperature at Charlies Pub, Copenhagen. Creamy, fawn coloured head with a solid stand. Pitch black body colour. Dark malty aroma with subdued roastiness. On the sweet side of bittersweet flavour, roasted and dry. Weak bitter twist to the ending. Easy to drink. Perhaps not in its best cask condition (Copenhagen, 26.03.2010).

2009-06-08, Cask Conditioned at Charlie’s Pub, Copenhagen, 6-4-7-2-13=32
Black color; thin head, but persistent. Very mild aroma, with yeast traces. Quite good mouthfeel, round, with chocolate flavor in the front and roasted malt later, refreshing but also with a trace of oxidation, that gives a light astringent feeling at the end, dry too. Quite pleasant, even if the roasted malt at the end is just a bit more than my liking.

Black color; small head. Light coffeish aroma. Light body, roasted malt flavor, coffee, ashes, light sourness, harsh final. Really tough experience for me.
