19/11/2021. Cask at the Harwich & Dovercourt Bay Winter Ale Festival 2021. Pours very dark brown with a small frothy off-white to beige head. Aroma of blackberry, blackcurrant, roasted malt, chocolate. Medium sweetness, light roasted bitterness. Medium body, oily texture, very soft carbonation. Enjoyable.

Cask at Waterloo Tap. Low key malty chocolate aroma. Dark and glossy, a cola tint. Foamy beige head. Initially a light bitter with veg hints. Then into the finish it gains bitterness a dark chocolate. Some underlying creaminess. Medium bodied but verging on watery. Flat carbonation. Long astringent finish. Not great. Thin and the bitterness feels quite raw.

Cask at Royal Oak. Creamy thick beige head. Nice classic Porter. Medium bodied. Diacetyl laced caramel finish. Enjoyable, but not that much depth. OK.

Cask at the Lord Nelson Inn, Brighton. It pours darkest ruby, near black with a thick light tan head. The aroma is rich roast, coffee grounds, earth, light smoke, tobacco, leather, cacao nibs and spice. The taste is rich roast, bitter - sweet, toast, coffee grounds, liquorice, dark fruits, touch of acidity and dull smoke with a dry, roasted finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Great condition. A pretty good cask porter.

Cask (backlog). Very deep brown colour, close to black, with a small beige head. Aroma is roasted malts, some ashes, toffee and a slight sharp edge to it. Flavour is roasted malts, ashes, some mild bitterness and that’s about it. Not all too exciting.

[5/4/14] Cask at Charlie’s Bar in Copenhagen. As Harvey’s 1st Prize Porter. Black with some brown foam. Aroma of roast, coffee, a bit of dark fruits and some cocoa. Bittersweet flavor, roasty, with cocoa, some coffee and a fruity note. A drier roasty finish, bitterish with an acidic note. Medium-bodied. Very nice.
