Being the smug brewers we are, we made a bunch of beer right when we opened. When all that beer didn’t sell instantly like we planned, we got taken down a notch and had to find something to do something with the excess beer. So we got some barrels and put some Scurry in them and hoped for the best. Later that year, it took a silver metal at the Festival of Barrel Aged Beers. So now we can be smug brewers again, I guess.

Small shortlasting head. Aroma is slightly dry oaky, unripe banana, oak, grass, caramel malts, yeast, nuts, bubblegum, dried fruits. Taste is slightly dry oaky, caramel malts, hay, oak, butterscotch, nuts, dried fruits, sugar, sap, cocoa, weeds. Medium bitterness, slightly dry watery mouthfeel. Fair enough.

Reddish brown colour, cream head. Aroma of bourbon, funk, barrel, wood and caramel. Woody flavour, bourbon, vanilla, malts. Finish wood, vanilla and malts.

Tap at CBC 2014. Dark brown in the glass, nice head, spicy aroma. Starts mild, spicy, intense malty with a light smokey touch. Well balanced finish, quite drinkable. Nice!

On tap @ Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2014. This is a light brown looking one, blurry in the glass and it has a small sidesticking off-white head. Sweet caramel nose here. Not super sweet perhaps, but present. Mild old grassy with nuts and some cake. Fair enough. It tastes like a juiced up bitter. That's a good thing, cause the normal bitters are boring, this is more flavorful. Sweet dried caramel and some crackers towards the finish. Yeah, nice. 02.05.2014

Keg at the Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2014, blue session. 02/05/2014. Aroma is woody, raisin, oak and pretty subdued spicy rye bread. Caramel / red coloured pour with a halo off white head. Flavour is composed of stale nutty malts, caramel, rum, light staling. Palate is medium bodied and lowish carbonation. Pretty boring beer.

Draught at CBC 2014. Clear ruby liquid with medium off-white head. aroma of wine, wood, dried fruit and raw sugar. Taste is light sweet and light bitter with notes of raw sugar and wood. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. OK.

The Sampler, Brooklyn tap: Pours opaque brown with a small head. Aroma is barrel-aged smells, like wood. I guess there was some dark fruit and the like in there. The barrel-aged flavor is nice, but it kind of makes this a one trick pony. The backbone is not all that interesting. It ain’t bad, but I was not all that impressed by what they had to offer.

Draught @ CBC 2014 [ Blue Session ]. - Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2014, Sparta Hallen, Gunnar Nu Hansens Plads 11, 2100 Copenhagen, Denmark [ As Off Color Dawdle ].Clear medium amber color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, dark malt, light to moderate hoppy, date - dried fruit - honey - earthy. Flavour is moderate sweet and light bitter with a long duration, date - dried fruit - honey - earthy, caramel. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20140502]

CBC. Hazy dark brown with an off-white head. Aroma is sweet, malty, caramel and dark fruit. Flavor is quite sweet and moderate bitter. Sweet and moderate bitter finish. 020514
