Let’s face it – we love big, flavorful stouts. As luck would have it, our friend Jeppe at Evil Twin Brewing feels the same way. We decided to brew a beer together that took elements from our favorite stouts we each produce to come together as one beer. Bible Belt takes elements we love from Prairie Bomb! and combines them with Evil Twin Brewing’s world famous stout, Even More Jesus. The end result is a smoky, spicy stout that is sure to please the pallet.

Keg at Craft Clerkenwell. Blimey, so easy drinking. Thick but very smooth. Aroma is cocoa powder, roast. Taste is similar, rich chocolate, like those choc sprinkles you get on a coffee. Booze is totally hidden. After taste has a chilli tingle. Bit of vanilla. Actually, lots of spice later, but still don't really feel it. Great stuff.

355ml bottle. Jet black colour with late awakening, small, frothy to creamy, rapidly fading, tan head. Chocolately, dark malty aroma, notes of cark chocolate, couverture, chocolate sauce, a touch of coffee and vanilla. Taste is vanilla-dominated, sweet-ish, chocolately dark malty, slightly fruity notes of coffee, increasing / accumulating peppery chili spiciness; well hidden alcohol. A tad too sweet and too much vanilla for my personal liking.

Bottle thanks to Justin. Pours black with medium tan head that diminishes quickly. The aroma is strong peppers, smoke, roast. Slick body, boozy, green pepper, did not hold up well.

On tap @Luppolo Station (Rome). Nera, densa, impenetrabile, schiuma beige media, molto persistente. Al naso note di caffè, cioccolata fondente, spezie, cannella, leggero affumicato. In bocca è dolce all'attacco con finale caffettoso amaro, lungo e intenso. Corpo pieno, carbonazione media. Ottima.

Bottle shared by badnewsbeers, 2014. Murky brown-black body, thin tight light brown head. Creamy, complex nose with peppery heat, oak, chocolate, and roast. Coffee and pepper prominent in the body; also chocolate, vanilla, and oaky tannins.

Can: Poured a pitch-black stout with a dark brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of black chocolate, coffee, cacao and vanilla is quite enjoyable. Taste is a mix of cacao, light subtle roasted malt notes with lots of residual sugar notes and some vanilla, light tobacco notes with some coffee. Body is full with oily texture and good carbonation with subtle warming alcohol notes. Enjoyable with great mix of flavours but maybe tad too much residual sugar.
