The Popol Vuh, the sacred book of the Maya, unfolds a complex web of mystery around a beverage known as xocoatl (ch-co-atle). At Southern Tier, we’re not surprised that hieroglyphs of the ancient Maya depict chocolate being poured for rulers and gods. Even through the many voyages of Columbus, the mystical bean remained nothing more than a strange currency of the native peoples. Moving through centuries, the circular journey of cacao has been realized in our brewing house, encompassing the complexity of the darkest, bitter-sweet candy together with the original frothy cold beverage of the ancient Maya to bring to you our Blackwater Series Choklat Stout. We have combined the finest ingredients to tempt your senses & renew the power & interrelation of history in every bottle.

On tap @ ChiareScure Festival, Milano 2019. Il naso riconosce segni di caffè. L'intensità olfattiva è elevata, permanendo in maniera apprezzabile. Il manto birroso superiore è caratterizzato da una schiuma che resiste poco. La grandezza delle bollicine è a grana fine. Il colore è come l'inchiostro nero. Il corpo è pieno. L'amaro è discreto. La forza gustativa è elevata e la durata è buona. Il retrogusto è intenso. Sul tetto della bocca si fermano sentori di caramello, cereali, cioccolato e Nescafé carico e freddo.

Aroma of roasted malt, lots of coffee, dark chocolate, hint of peat, hint of pepper. Flavour is moderate sweet with a moderate bitter finish. Quite tasty coffee Stout.

Tap at Borefts’14: Black colored brew with beige foamy head. Taste of Italian coffee, caramel, chocolate and roasted malts and an fine bitter aftertaste.

33cl bottle from AbeerVinum, Rimini, Italy. Pours black, with very fine brown foam, limited. Aroma is of coffee and cocoa, but also cherry. Body is slightly dense, smooth and sticky, with soft carbonation. Taste is pretty roasty bitter, continuing for a long time in the final.

330 ml bottle. Pours black with moderate creamy tan head. Aromas of black coffee, dark chocolate and roasted malts. Flavors of espresso, dry black chocolate, rye bread and dry roasted malts. Really nice for the ABV.
