Bottle at home. Aroma is malt, caramel, coffee, sweet raisins, touch of dark chocolate and nuts. Flavour is medium sweet and light bitter. Body is medium. Okay ’coffee Dubbel’, however it’s a lot thinner than what I’d hoped for.

Bottle. Deep dark brown color. Malt, toffee and coffee in the aroma. Malty sweet slightly alcoholic flavor with toffee, coffee and a hint of licorice. Nothing really shocking.

Bottle at a tasting. Quite sweet, full bodied, somewhat lacking balancing bitterness. Mostly caramelly, lightly chocolatey, even lighter spiciness. Overall filling, good, even though out of balance. Slightly alcoholic as well.

One of these new Groningen Bax beers, a coffee-flavored dubbel apparently brewed in Belgium. Bottle shared by Craftmember at Belgium Chimipalooza. Moussy, off-white, creamy head, hazy burgundy bronze robe. Aroma of candi sugar, pear, caramel, elderberry, hazelnuts, subtle coffee grounds. Soft sweetish onset, banana, raisin with a blackberry-like sourishness underneath, toffeeish and mellow bready malt sweetness in the middle, bit yeasty, herbal hoppy touch without great bittering power in the finish, residual candi sugar sweetness, little bit sticky, and again coffee grounds in a very subtle form, appearing as a coffeeish whiff retronasally. Bit thin on the palate, and needs more coffee and less residual sweetness to shine.

From bottle at Winterbierfestival Gouda 2016. Hazy, brownish amber. Sweetish-malty, slightly roasty aroma of coffee, dark chocolate and some licorice. Sweetish-malty, slightly roasty taste of caramel, milk chocolate, coffee and nuts, followed by a short, slightly bitter, roasty finish. Medium body, slightly creamy mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Nice!
