33cl Bottle. 2015 Vintage. Batch 1 out of 1. BB 2025. Pours Black with a small beige head. Deep roast. Ash, soy and plenty of barrel. Cocoa, coffee, vanilla, sherry, plum and Dark fruit. Vinous with that old School roasted characther lingering. Easy to detect the younger brother “beer geek breakfast”. Fun and Holding up pretty Well in 2024.

Bottle. Gushed like a lil bizh! Pours pitch black with a big mocha head. Aromas of malt, hard bitter roast, light barrel notes, sherry, savory, dark fruits, dark chocolate, licorice. Taste is roasty, malty, sherry, dark chocolate, licorice, some cognac-like notes, dry.

Dunkler röstiger Beginn. Milde Süße, weich, cremig, deutlich steigend nach Kaffee. Vollmundig, geringe Herbe, ebenso wenig bitter. Stark schokoladig, etwas Alkohol, Vanille, Kakao. Komplex, dabei weich, langer Nachgeschmack. 13/13/12/13/11/13

At a tasting, thickish pour, smallish creamy head,opaque black colour, aroma of a bit stale dark bread, honey cake and a spicy hint, prickly carbonation that is a bit out of place, flavor of dark bread and chocolate that is quite sweet. Nice but suprisingly simple.

Clear dark brown beer, small aery beige head, unstable, dissipates quickly, non adhesive. Aroma: alcohol, cognac, pretty roasted, more alcohol, banana peel. MF: lively carbon, medium body. Taste: lots of alcohol, roasted, dark chocolate, bit sweet, bitter some coffee. Aftertaste: more dark chocolate, slightly sourish.

Mikkeller's famous Beer Geek stout aged on no less than six different barrels, bottle from Gedeelde Vreugde, the owner of which warned me that this could potentially gush; still I wasn't prepared for the flood coming out of the bottle upon opening - by far the strongest gusher I ever had from Mikkeller. Anyway: initially towering high but soon thinning, though retaining, deep ruddy beige, coarse, lacing head, black robe with mahogany edges. Aroma of a lot of damp coffee grounds and wet 'fondant' chocolate bars, a lot of (soaking wet) wood, dried plums, cloves, cigar tobacco, dried blackcurrant, dry liquorice, tar, leather, varnish, bayleaf. Dried fruitiness in the onset, dried prunes, elderberries, sweetish with a sourish hint (of infectious nature, no doubt, hence also the gushing); soft carbonation, thick, oily, sticky mouthfeel. Lots of toasted nuts and black toasted bread, leading to roasted coffee bitterness, dried by an array of woody tannins as expected, and further bittered by spicy hoppiness. Long, dry, tannic, a bit earthy and 'dirty' due to the infection with some off-flavours I would have preferred not to have here, but otherwise a very decent, roasty and interesting stout - yet this amount of gushing, as always, casts a shadow over my enjoyment.

Clear dark black brown colour with a large, good lacing, mostly lasting, light brown head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, molasses, chocolate, coffee, dark malt, cherry stone, wood, alcohol. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long duration, coffee, dakr malt, roasted, cherry stone. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20170830] 7-4-8-3-16
