Het Meesterstuk van 2016 is een Russian Imperial Smoked Milk Stout van 11%, gebrouwen door Jopenbrouwers Tom Provo en Cor Baan. Het is een heerlijk volmondig zwaar biertje. Enerzijds door de toevoeging van lactose, wat zorgt voor romigheid. Anderzijds door de vele complexe gebrande mouten waardoor het bier een rokerig karakter krijgt. Een vol smakend bier met aroma’s van koffie en chocolade. De bitterheid is zacht en subtiel door het gebruik van Europese hopsoorten.

Small sample from tap @ PRZH Winterbiertickfest (2016). Black color. Beige head. Aroma’s: moderate sweet, drop/licorice. Retronasal it’s moderate sweet, soy sauce, roasted. Flavor is moderate sweet, drop/licorice. Medium bodied. Finishes roasty, moderate bitter, light ashy even. Not great but good enough.

Pint Winterbierfestival, Gouda 2016. Gedeeld met de ratebeer clan! zwart met fijne bruine kraag. aroma van hout, rookmout, gebrande mouten, chocolade en koffie. Smalen zijn redelijk zoet, rookmout, drop, matig bitter, geroosterde mout, chocolade, zacht en glad, iets romig van textuur, redelijke body, lange volle smaken in de afdronk.

33 cl. bottle @ home, bought @ van Schaik, Vianen. Dark brown to black with a dense beige head. Malty smoky aroma. Sweet smoky taste with some chocolate. Very creamy mouthfeel. A fine milk stout. Really had to work for this year’s Meesterstuk. Had to go to four stores to finally score this one but it was worth the effort

In De Wildeman (met Koelie). Lekkere dikke strontvlieg. Lekker rokerige chocomelstout, lekker zoet verwen-ding. Goe spul.. Backlog from 2015/11/04.

33cl bottle from my Secret Santa David, many thanks! Pours very dark brown colour with a mid-sized good lasting tan head. Aroma of smoked malt, bacon, dark roasted malt. Taste of roasted peated malt, meat, coffee, some chocolate, roasted bitter finish.

On tap at NBF Winter Delft 2015. Clear, very dark reddish brown to black with a creamy, brown head. Sweetish-malty, slightly roasty aroma of milk chocolate, nougat, coffee and peat. Sweet-malty, slighly roasty taste of dark chcolate, coffee, nougat and licorice, followed by a medium long, slightly bitter, lightly peaty finish. Medium to full body, creamy to oily mouthfeel, flat. Good!
