S:t Eriks och Thornbridge är båda kända för sina tolkningar av modern amerikansk IPA-stil, men här har man i stället bestämt sig för att göra ”en modern tolkning av engelsk IPA, jäst med äkta nordengelsk jäst och genomgående brittisk humle för en unik och komplex fruktighet – en hyllning till allt bra hos en IPA.”
Årets kollaboration är ljust bärnstensfärgad med en alkoholstyrka på 7,4 %, bitter-, smak-, arom och torrhumlad med bästa engelska East Kent Golding humle till ett IBU på cirka 75. Jäststammen är av äkta West Yorkshire-typ med en fruktighet som fungerar särskilt bra ihop med humlesorterna. Trots höga IBU så är beskan fantastiskt mjuk.

Flaska från SB. Gyllenfärgad, klar, lågt skum. Väldigt söt och fruktig och inte alls vad jag förväntade mig. Men en fin komplex fruktighet precis som etiketten säger. Honung, physalis, melon, torkad frukt, kola. Mjuk men tydlig beska. Alkoholen slår igenom en del vilket ger hetta och kryddighet det stör inte. Trevlig söta fruktsmaker och på det hela riktigt trevlig.

Bottle bought @ Systembolaget. Pours deep golden with a rather small frothy offwhite head that leaves some spotty trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is floral with biscuits, freshly baked bread, hay, dried flowers, bubblegum, orange zest and star fruit. Taste is very sweet, slightly bitter and slightly fruity with biscuits, caramel, heavy star fruit, ripe peaches, hay, pine needles, resinous wood and orange zest., Mouthfeel is soft, round, slightly cloying, tiny astringent and medium bodied. Finish is sweet and floral with biscuits, heavy starfruit, hay, pine needles, resin and orange zest. I don’t suspect there’s anything wrong with this technically but this is way too sweet for me to enjoy...

Bottled, from Systembolaget. Clear bronze colour, rich, firm head. Generous english hop aroma with hay, flowers and resinous notes. Fairly sweet with near full body and soft mouthfeel. Fruity and floral with hay, caramel and honey. Mellow finish with long bitterness. Quality all the way.

330ml Bottle - Hazy amber in colour. Floral and herbal aroma with notes of mint, apricot and peach. Earthy notes, peach, apricot and sultanas can be detected in the taste. Quite nice.

Smak och doft av humle, malt, karamell, smörkola (dumlekola), citrus, banan med toner av torkad frukt, honung och brunt socker. Rund, len, fin sötma, dock slå alkoholen igenom en aning för mycket vilket dra ner betyget. Fin avrundande beska.
