16 ounce can. Opaque, black brown color. Frothy tan head disappears quickly. Big, roasted malt aroma has smoky notes. Sweet, roasted malt flavor hints at chocolate and molasses. Easy drinking for a stout. Worth seeking out.

Pours oily black with a thin tan head. Aroma of toasted malt, chocolate. Taste has more toasted malt, some nutty elements. Palate has a ton of toasted nuts, more chocolate. Quite good.

Can pour into nonic pint glass from Total Wine & More, Danvers. Appearance is opaque black with sparkle only noticeable from the top of the glass, fleeting 1/2-finger width light brown head with no lacing. Aroma is cocoa, slightly burnt coffee, lactose. Taste is cocoa, lactose, mild coffee, late hint of anise. Palate is medium-to-full bodied with thick texture, soft carbonation that morphs to lively at the end of the sip, and finish as taste. Overall, solid across the board, though the carbonation is a little too lively at the end. Nothing unusual that distinguishes it from the crowd, but a good representative of the style.

Pours very dark brown from the can. The foamy tan head makes a quick, fizzy exit. Aroma is toast, chocolate, oatmeal. Taste is sweet, full of chocolate and dark cherry tones. A lingering mineral note dominates the finish. Rich, smooth, creamy body with a prickly carbonation that feels out of place. Overall, okay.

Schönes Schoko-Röstmalz Aroma. Im Trunk leichte Süße, trocken, mittig schön röstig, nicht zu derb, leicht Zartbitterschokolade, hohe Drinkability. Lecker.
