A missprint on the label and possible missing sticker has created a confusion that "Vintersol" has existed as a 13.2% ABV version, the mead has ever only been produced as a 9.8% ABV one.
Denna oerhört spännande dryck är tillverkad av över 900 kg blåbär från västerbottens skogaroch 170 kg honung från östra Norrland i regi av Niklas Gotthardsson. Till både smak och utseende påminner den kraftigt om ett rött vin, självfallet med starka blåbärstoner. Receptet kanske liknar ”Höströd”, men som dryck är det här en helt annan historia. Nattsvart och torr, som de kalla långa vinternätterna. Denna dryck passar ypperligt till rött kött, vilket är ovanligt för mjöd.

Dark ruby hazy color. The aroma if blueberry wine is intense. Dry mouthfeel, some blueberry flavor, red wine, moderate acidity, some final astringency; but the body is weak, and there is no mead flavor.

bottle at tasting at mikkeller and friends, clear red, small bubbly head. aroma of blueberries, honey, pollen, faint herbal note ,like stinging nettle. flavor is berries, floewry note, dry ,slightly soursh.

Bottled vintage 2011 at 13.2% denoted dry (torr). A deep red mead. The aroma has notes of blueberries and honey. The flavor is sweet with notes of blueberries, honey, lemons, leading to a tart finish.

75 cl bottle. Pours clear and golden red to deepamber, small red head. Aroma is smooth fruity, honey, citric blueberry. Smooth fruity, dry, citric / tart blueberry. Light earthy note. Libgering dry, fruity and citric finish.

(Bottle, Stockholm Beer Festival, 27 Sep 2013) Dark red colour with no head. Fruity nose with notes of red wine, blueberries, raspberries and dark fruit. Fruity taste with blueberries, blackberries and a fairly dry and tart finish with hints of oak aged red wine. Medium body, quite dry. Interesting mead with a generous blueberry character. Nice one.

Bottled@SBWF2012. Deep amber, with almost some violet nyances to it. No head. Aroma is honey, quite a bunch of blueberries and some slight floral notes. Flavour was surprisingly dry and tart, but otherwise rather similar to the aroma. Wellbalanced, and actually lacking the real big sweetness of meads, this one would probably suit food quite well.

Bottle at mead tasting on November 2, 2012.Clear dark blueish red color, very small pink head. Sweet, blueberry scent. Tart, dry, berry, butter taste. Tart dry mouthfeel, very dry finish.

Bottle at Stockholm Beer and Whiskey Festival 2012. Almost clear deep purple/reed liquid. Aroma of honey, red berries, blue berries, raw sugar and some booze. Taste is dry and light bitter with notes of bitter lingon berries and some honey. Medium bodied. Nice.
