Bright citrusy unfiltered lager, this brew was borne of the brewers’ many trips to Germany. Alpine Spring features a unique blend of lager attributes: the balanced maltiness and hoppiness of a Helles, the smoothness and slightly higher alcohol of a traditional spring bock, and the unfiltered appearance of a Kellerbier. The beer is brewed with Noble Tettnang hops to add a unique, bright orange-citrusy aroma and flavor.

12oz bottle poured into a shaker. Pours a cloudy dark gold with about a half finger of white head. Aroma of citrus and wheat. Taste is light bitter and light sweet. Wheat, lemon zest and a little skunk in the aftertaste. Medium bodied with a somewhat creamy texture. Lively carbonation and a long finish. Overall, not bad. I’d like to try this on on draft, it may be better.

12oz bottle pours slightly hazy deep gold with copper hues and slightly off white head. The aroma initially offers up slim helpings of spicy hops, some floral hops an a almost lemon like citrus note. It quickly picks up sweet malts, some honey, grainy maltiness and sort of a lageriness. Alright, I’m liking this landbeir as it seems a bit like a few I had in Germany not too long ago. It is almost chewy in mouthfeel ushering in fairly full notes of sweet malts, honey notes and then a nice malt graininess for added depth and interest into the finish. Floating above those notes are snippets of spicy, floral and a faint lemon like citrus hoppiness. Overall pretty nice where the hops are pesky enough to add a bit of balance to the sizeable malty sweetness.

Drack denna på fat. En riktig frisk och syrlig sommaröl. Frisk på citrus, citron och en aning smör och tropisk frukt. På gränsen till en färsköl/veteöl i karaktären. Betygsatte denna öl tidigare med 3,2p

Cloudy dark straw with a thick, slightly rocky head. The aroma is yeasty and fresh with light bready pale malts. The taste is lime-accented with slightly doughy, bready notes. Not bad. Could probably use more dryness to pull the yeast and malt elements together more.

Location: 12 oz bottle from Colonial Wine and Spirits, 3/27/12

Aroma: The nose is has lots of citrus/lemon, some floral hop notes, honey, and a little bread
Appearance: Pours a rather cloudy golden-orange color with a bright, clean white head and lots of lace
Flavor: The taste starts off sweet, with lots of citrus flavor, later some spice and bitterness add balance
Palate: The body is fairly light, but not watery, with a nice clean and crisp feel, and a dry, tingly finish
Overall Impression: Obviously I've been seeing this one around everywhere lately, so I decided to give it a shot, and I was pleasantly surprised. This one is really drinkable, and seems to do exactly what they were trying for it to do. This would make for a nice spring seasonal, and if replaces Noble Pils as the token "seasonal micro" at restaurants with 4 taps all the better.

16 ounce draft - poured a slightly cloudy golden color. Meh, not much aroma - notes of sweetness, yeasty bready notes. A bit crisp. Flavor was sweet, bready. Not as refreshing as I would have hoped.
