Bottle @ Home. Pours dark golden with an offwhite head. Aroma of malt, caramel, wood, light spice, slight herbal hops. Flavor is light sweet, light bitter, malty, caramel, bread, wood, herbs, light alcohol. Medium body, average carbonation, light sweet finish. Not great, but still a good bit more exciting than modern day Iron Maiden! 080316

330ml bottle from Alko. BBE Sep/16. Pours dark copper orange with a small head. Aroma of caramel, malts, berries, earthiness and herbal notes. Taste is sweet, malty and earthy with some caramel, toffee, berries and herbal notes. Finish is warming, malty and earthy with some grain, toffee and caramel. The original one was better.

500 ml bottle into pint glass, bottled on 10/12/2015. Pours slightly hazy/cloudy deep orange/copper color with a 1-2 finger dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, toasted biscuit, light nuttiness, golden raisin, plum, apple, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt, fruity yeast, and earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, toasted biscuit, light nuttiness, golden raisin, plum, apple, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Moderate herbal/spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, toasted biscuit, light nuttiness, golden raisin, plum, apple, herbal, grass, pepper and yeast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt, fruity yeast, and earthy hop flavors; with a good malt/bitterness balance and zero astringent hop flavor after the finish. Moderate dryness from bitterness that increases through the glass. Light-medium carbonation and medium body; with a very smooth, moderately crisp/sticky, and lightly creamy/grainy/bready balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very good ESB style. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt, fruity yeast, and earthy hop flavors; and very smooth, crisp, and easy to drink. I found this just a bit too hoppy/drying on the flavors; but the overall balance was still well done. A very enjoyable offering.

Bottled (from Alko Keskusta, Vaasa). Amber colour, mediumsized off-white foamy head. Aroma is floral, some mild bready and hayish notes to it. Flavour is nice lingering floral and somewhat fruity hoppiness, which also gives a nice mellow bitterness to the beer. Also some mild sweet and crispy maltiness to it. Balanced, but nothing that special. Good session beer, although a bit on the stronger side.

Bottled 330ml (Alko)
Clear copper color, small steady off-white head. Malty aroma is salty, sweetish with English hops. Medium-bodied. Sweetish maltyness, salty and earthy hops. Very English, old skool strong ale/ESB with some alcohol kick. Sells more because of the label than its taste.
