Wort van 4 verschillende stekers. Nog voor hij de warme kamer ingaat. Smaken zitten goed, mag nog wat meer mature zijn.

Rating #2000. Hand pump. Hazy orange color with no head. Aroma is funk, horseblanket, wood, some residual sugars. Taste is candied residual sugars, wood, lemony funk, some more sweetish fruits (pineapples and exotic things, probably due to the residual sugar making the fruitiness sweeter), and quite some bitterness towards the end. Flat. Good!

(On cask at Moeder Lambic Fontainas, July 24 2015) Pours hazy dark gold medal medium lingering white cask head and lace. Aroma fresh cheddar, lactic, lemon and orange peels, moderate to strong Brett basement, dried leaves, some old hops, wood is fairly light for style. Sulphur really comes out as it airs. Bright and funky on the palate with lactic yogurt and lots of oranges, with some underripe pit fruit, lemon, big tart citrus juice acidity, and undercurrent of peach skin, herbal hops and oak. Funk is dry earth and a bit of sulphur. Finish is dry, a bit tart, and almost astringent from hops. Smooth light to medium mouthfeel. This is really good! Complexity and balance of a gueuze without the refermentation and a lovely cask mouthfeel.

Draught at Moeder Lambic Fontainas. Almost clear deep golden liquid with medium white head. Aroma of lemon, apple skin, light funk, grain and mineral. Taste is dry and light to medium sour with notes of apple skin, mineral and lemon. Medium bodied with low carbonation. Really nice lambic. Complex and balanced.

A so-called ’luierik’, basically a failed geuze, that is to say: a blend of lambics which has not refermented as intended and has therefore not fully evolved to a real geuze (other examples are 3 Fonteinen Doesjel and Cantillon Loerik). Has a creamy, off-white, stable head and misty orange blonde colour. Complex aroma, young lambic, lemon juice, wheat, sweat, sherry, wet hay, horseblanket, lots of estery fruitiness. Equally estery taste, complex, tart, with the expected low carbonation (and not the champenoise fizz of a fully evolved geuze), woody, funky and complex dry sour finish. Very drinkable and more or less the same in taste as their actual geuze.

Draft at Moeder Lambic Fontainas. Pours hazy dark golden with a small off white head. Aroma is like being in a lambic barrel cellar, barnyard, vinegar and light wood. Flavour is light sweet and moderate acidic. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.
