Deep nut brown color, medium-sized off-white head. Aroma of dark fruits, vanilla, calvados and wood. Medium to full-bodied, liquerish palate. Sweetish flavor: lots of candy sugar, bourbon and loads of vanilla. Beer to age, but already good!

A reddish dark amber Fred with a thin off white head. An intense and just superb sweet grapes in wooden barrell aroma, wood extracts, musty. In mouth, a hyper smooth blend of sweet candy sugar, funk barley wine qualities, plum jam and maple. Wow and rewow! On tap at Hair of the Dog, Sept. 4, 2010.

12oz glass on tap at the HotD Tasting Room. Pours a transparent, ruddy amber with an active white head. Nose was really great, woody, vanilla, fine bourbon, caramel, I got some apple brandy. Flavor was sweet, very well balanced, caramel, oak, bourbon, toffee, apples, vanilla, a little fruit punch. Full bodied, slight alcohol burn. Loved it on tap, not sure how the bottle will effect it.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy gold with a light, filmy head. Aroma is oaky and sweet, with alcohol and caramel notes. Flavor begins sweet with more caramel, bready malts and golden raisins. Medium to full bodied with relaxed carbonation and some warmth. Finishes rather sweet with mild bitter notes, booze and lingering malts. Excellent beer all around. (4.3)
Bottle at Paulβs Birthday Drinks - CBC Clerkenwell, London. Bottle Vintage 2008. Great stuff. Some bread, rich gingerbread like, a bit of brown sugar. Full, rich. Yeah, still great stuff. (4.1)

Surprise bottle with many thanks to riversideAK! Pours a murky nut brown color with white head. Nose is apple tart, cinnamon, baked fruits, oak and dark fruits. Taste is very smooth caramels, cinnamon, oak, vanilla, lightly toasted almonds and nutmeg. The caramel really shines through.

Bottle thanks to Suzygreenberg. Pours a hazy orange gold with no head. Aroma is hot with an alcohol burn, apple, apricot and oak on the nose. Flavor has a strong apricot note with undertones of alcohol, apples and a hint of oak.

courtesy of tpd975. β09 bottle. pours copper/orange, off white head. Aroma of caramel, grapefruit, oak barrel goodness white grape giving a nice fresh white wine aroma. Flavor, thick wood/barrel palate, thick malty caramel mouthfeel with some dark sugar, dark fruits, white grape/wine-like freshness of the barrel that reminded me of French oak, but apparently this is American oak. Nicely done. As with the rest of HOTD beers, itβs always hard to see the last drop disappear.

17th August 2008.
Cloudy amber brown beer with a woody nose. Rich almost salty barleywine underpins sweet oak and vanilla. A soft palate with medium dryness. Some grapefruit hop at the end. Complex and moorish. Original rating 3.8
21st November 2009
Hazy dark amber beer. Thick frothy white head. Oaky vanilla nose. Light frothy palate. Light creamy vanilla oak start. Sweet creamy mid with mellow but fruity hops which contrast nicely with the oaky sweetness. Finishes frothy and soft with some peppery spice. Slightly bitter aftertaste. A wonderful medley of top class beer flavours!
