Small beige head over dark unclear brown beer. Woody nose, creamy, milkchocolate, rainwater. Bit burning feel, melanoidins, dry wood/plywood. Again chocolate - mainly milk - in the taste, going into a sweet main flavour and aftertaste, leaving a long sweet impression. Very faintly tannines' perception. Medium bodied at least, good carbonation. I do not know why it would be extra good with stew - practically no bitterness, maybe. But as a beer, it's uninteresting.

F: big, beige, long lasting. C: coppery to brown, hazy. A: malty, dried fruits, caramel, bit apples, mellow fruity, banana, bit bready. T: sweet malty, caramel, dried fruity, mellow fruity, banana, candy sugar, dried figs, bit warming alcohol, more on the sweet side to be really enjoyable for me but not disaster, medium to full body, medium carbonation, 75cl bottle from Delhaize Chazal in Brussels.

Quadrupel style beer developed for Delhaize in their 'Perfect Match' series, which started in 2017 as a one-off, a beer intended to be paired with cheese, but in 2018 has spawned a string of beers each fitting with a different group of foods. This one comes from a 75 cl bottle bought at the Delhaize supermarket in Lokeren but apparently its distribution is still limited; not to be confused with an equally limited 'Stoofpot' version, which is a dubbel at 6.1% ABV in the same series. Thick and rocky, irregular, pale yellowish beige, coarse, cobweb-lacing head, warm coppery bronze robe with rusty-reddish hue, clear at first but hazy with sediment. Aroma of old raisin bread, caramel candy, chewing gum, dried figs, cloves, old liquorish candy, soap, apple cake, gingerbread, dried banana, bread crumbs. Sweet onset, residual candi sugar, fig, raisin, baked banana and a kind of red apple crispness, bubblegummy effect too, light sourish undertone, quite lively carbonation. Lean, smooth mouthfeel, bit resinous caramelly and cleanly bready maltiness with a vague metallic edge, leading to a 'jenever'-ish boozy finish with clove-like phenolic aspects and a herbal, bit leafy hop bitter accent in the tail; some background liquorish and plaster notes as well. Decent enough, but like the others, there are enough existing beers as it is for foodpairing so this feels a bit redundant, clearly designed for purely commercial reasons. I make 'carbonades à la Flamande' and other stew dishes often but I'll stick to a trappist quad combined with a Flemish red rather than this designer beer, thank you.
