Bottle from the brewery. Poured a clear dark brown colour with a short-lived frothy tan head. The aroma is roasty malt, light caramel, charcoal, coffee. The flavour is moderate liquorice bitter, with a dry, roasty, light sweet caramel, dry liqouirce bitter palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation. A solid stout but maybe a touch over-carbonated.

From bottle. Pours black as night with minimal head. Thinner mouthfeel than expected. Roasty malt dominant. Classic stout, but not spectacular.

Bottle. Very dark brown with just under an inch of light tan head. Aroma of mocha, roasted malt, spiced buns. Barely medium bodied, smooth textured with moderate carbonation. The roasted flavours are curious - there’s not that much roast, but it seems very heavily roasted and a bit acrid. But it works OK with the substantial sweetness and means the end seems bitter mainly through the roasted malt. Dryish there with some licorice. Pretty good, lots of personality.
