Wakasa Pale Ale 5% This has the worst reviews of the three Wakasa beers I picked up by Fukui station but they’re from 2012 so I took them with a grain of salt. Clear orange gold with a thick head of foam. It has a mild aroma of orange blossoms and mild maltiness. The taste is similar with orange fruit notes and a light biscuit caramel malt character. It’s a solid beer, not exciting but decently made. Color me pleasantly surprised. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from the brewery. Sweet, fruity aroma, honey, rich pale malts, caramel, a touch of citrus hops. Dark golden color ranging towards copper, medium head. Sweet caramel-honey malt. Slightly bready. Grapes, peaches. Light hop grassiness with a bit of a bitter finish. Unbalanced and not integrated. Amateurish, with alcohol remaining in the mouth. Thin, greasy body. Not very well done, too sweet and cloying, though drinkable.
