Tap at Bankan. Dark golden brown colour. Small off-white head. Aroma is nice and malty, bit of sweetness. Taste is bit citrus in background, lots of malt, sweet. Pretty solid and a bit fruity.

330ml bottle from tokyu in sapporo station. Poured into a shaker pint. Nice copper penny brown color with with a medium-sized toasted marshmallow colored head. Caramel, toffee aromas prevail with dark fruit undertones: currant, fig and dried apricot. Tastes malty with a slight sour fruity finish. Medium carbonation. Sweet on the palate. Very cool brown. Not boring at all. --- Beer merged from original tick of North Island Brown Ale on 30 Mar 2015 at 15:20 - Score: 6

A bottle I picked up at the souvenir shop in Sapporo station. A very solid brown ale, easy to drink and it would make a nice session beer. It poured a reddish brown with an off-white head and lots of fine carbonation. The flavor is a malty sweetness with a bit of a sour fruity tang to it. Refreshing & easy to drink. North Island seems to make good to great beers, I love their Coriander Black.

Draught @ Golden Garden, Hiroshima. Rated on 13.9.2011
Aroma is slightly sweet with malt and rather light. Flavour is hoppy and sweetish with malt, caramel and toffee. Somewhat hoppy finish. Good brown ale, but nothing special really.

Draught at Craft Beer Bar. Seems this is now a regular of theirs. Rich caramel with chocolate but not too sweet. Slight tangy fruit flavor there as well. Very nice. Has quite a spritzy mouth feel. Strong carbonation, but that works with the sweetness.
