Tap at Towers. Pale blond colour with small white head. Aroma is spicy herb, saison-like. Tiny bit of funk. Taste nice and herbal, quite crisp and refreshing. Quite fruity, bit of berry in there, maybe strawberry. Just a touch of sourness. But more saisony. Nice texture, not full on and very drinkable. Little bit of carbonation in there. I liked this.

On tap into a tulip glass, showing a highly opaque orange peel with a finger of white foam. The nose shows a first impression of the barnyard and lambic funk but fades very quickly into the sweet, round lager-like malts. The palate is full bodied with a barely perceivable tart note at the end. But drinks like a typical Japanese macro-lager showing thick and sweet malts. A complete failure as a lambic because of fear of straying from the Japanese/German tradition/palate of lagers. God this is awful.

Fujiyama Lambic from Iwate Kura 5% sample on tap at Kamikaze. It pours a very pale gold with a fluffy white head. The nose is fruity yeasty plum like, apparently made from yeast harvested off persimmons or something in collaboration with someone from Outsider brewing. Very light soft body, thin almost watery but with big fruit plum flavor, almost fruit juice like. Tasty stuff but lacking complexity. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draught @ Bakushu Club Popeye, Tokyo. Rated on 05.09.2011
Looks like berliner weisse. Aroma is sweet with sour apples and citrus, feels kind of Bavaria 0,0% with sour element added. Flavour has citrus and is surprisingly low on sourness, feels like sweet wit. Dry palate. Not lambic in any scale.

lemon, earth, hay, smoke, floral nose. Very interesting. Body is moderately sour, body is not so balanced. Finish is dry and not so distinguished, but it’s ok. Better than I thought it would be.

Draught at Q-Brick. This is Niwa Satoshi’s first beer at Iwate Kura after moving there from Hakusekikan. Made with some of his wild yeast. Spicy, peppery, lemon nose. Very dry flavor with lemon, wheat, spices and some funk. Very dry finish, from the yeast I suppose. Nicely smooth and interesting. Refreshing.
