The 12th in our black IPA series is made with copious amounts of Nugget, Cascade, Northern Brewer, Centennial and Amarillo hops. The slight roasted and hoppy aroma give rise to a delightful complexity that is both dark and mysterious.

Draught at Deschutes Brewery and Public House in Portland. Porter-like aroma, with a bit of burnt malt, big hops, chocolate. Lacks direction and balance.

On Tap at the PDX BP Very dark brown with a thin but lasting, sandy colored head. West coast hoppy, citrusy aroma with surprisingly little of the roasted aroma I was expecting given its color. The flavor betrayed the roasted barly that lent it it’s color. Still this is clearly an IPA that tasted fressh and zesty. The slight roasted flavors were just enough to lend a little interesting slant to it.
