A higher gravity seasonal version of the year-round Little Sumpin’ Sumpin’ Ale. It’s made with Westmalle Trappist yeast that creates those curious phenolic off-flavors that are freakin’ everyone out these days. Massively dosed with boatloads of wheat and pale malt and finishes with a big, hoppy ending.

Bottle. Gold with an off-white head. High bead. Aroma of citrus, pine, wheat, dough, pears, cut flowers. Sweet with caramel, pears, tropical fruit and light biscuit, doughy yeast, window cleaner, citrus, a little spice. Bitter finish is piney and spicey. Alcohol pokes out a bit much at the end. A _little_ more Belgian-accented than Hop Stoopid I suppose and that punchy spice is recognisably Westmalle, but I don’t see how one could mistake this for a BSA. The sweetness is softened by the yeastiness, but not enough. Still, a tasty and rather charming drop.

A golden translucent ale with a thin creamy off white head. In aroma, nice caramel butter with floral hops, meaty and smooth. In mouth, an oily spiced up malt with mentolated hops, smooth berry notes, like a fruity DIPA, pink grapefruits. Bottled at ROC Empire Brewfest, Feb. 19 2011.

Bomber poured into tumbler. Pours a faintly hazy golden with a medium off-white head with great retention; leaves some neat lacework. Aroma is very IPA-ish with pine and grapefruit dominant; there’s also some bready character here. Taste is bittersweet and funky. I taste cheese and apples. Carbonation is medium high, mouthfeel is creamy, body is medium-full. A tasty, yet very odd beer. When I bought this, I thought it was going to be a sour/wild ale, considering the name. It turned out to be a weird American IPA-Belgian hybrid. Not what I was expecting, but still good.

Best beer of the night at Swingbridge grand re-opening. Bright golden color, large off white head. Aroma of citrus and pineapple. Taste is floral, pine, citrus, slight dust and a very subtle and soft sourness. Excellent.

Whole grapefruit and rosehip aroma. Clear amber, thick lacing head. Full bodied and well hopped. Sweet rosehip and grapefruit flavor. A little too sweet for my taste. Devoid of Belgian characteristics, drinks like a sweet DIPA.
