Can from Le Collier. Dark brown with a small golden head. Aroma is interesting. Initially a bit black ipa like, but once it settles down it is much more complex. Really fruity, apples, grapes and also dark fruit, hint of smoke, touch of spice, roasty but a little bit funky too. Texture is nice, smooth and creamy. Taste is good too, initial fruitiness, then mellows into something more roasty. There is a touch of something wild too though. Can't really put my finger on it. Haven't even finished this yet, but am definitely going back for some more cans.

Can from Shinshu Osake Mura, drunk at home. Pours dark brown with a decent brown foam on top, nice thick brown head that reduces into a thin beige layer of bubbles. Nose is roasty, has some light tar notes and lots of cocoa and dark, dry chocolate. Some berries hidden in between. Tastes dry, ashy even, lots of dark chocolate - and almost no sweetness. Heaps of roast character, medium body, finish has some little fruitiness and more chocolate. Pretty good one, especially for this abv, well done. Enjoyable.

Can from Tanakaya. Drank straight out of the can. Roasted malt aromas with coffee, chocolate, almonds, caramel and light dark fruit notes. Average carbonation with a nice roasty malt flavor on the palate. Surprisingly bitter under the carbonation (roasty bitterness or hop bitterness or both). Porter-like body with a nice semi-dry finish. Really solid.

5% from Oh! La!Ho! Beer picked up at Le Collier Marunouchi. The can spells this as Biere de Rydeen... Great head of creamy tan foam. Dark ruby brown almost black in some lights. Umami savouryness, chocolate, coffee, roast notes. Smooth creamy body with a chocolate, cocoa powder flavor & a bitter coffee + dark chocolate finish. Probably the best beer I’ve had from these guys it tastes like a bigger beer than it’s 5% alcohol. Well done guys, keep beers like this coming!

Can (thanks Kim S.!). Very deep brown colour, small brown head. Aroma is very nutty, mild roast, some coffee as well as some slight toffeeish notes. Flavour is roasted malts, coffee, quite strong on the nutty notes, and mild hoppy notes as well. Long nutty and roasted aftertaste.

Draught at Griffon. Red tinted black with a light tan head. Hoppy, fruity aroma. Very fruity flavor, dark, cherry. Not roasted at all. A very interesting porter. Dark malts plus fruit-grapes, Muscat too. Cool stuff—is it really a porter???
