Bottle. Aroma is sweet, caramel, light fruitiness. Taste has a tiny hint of bitterness but is all about the caramel. Malty. Not sure. Second time under a different name.... grrrr. This time Hamaji De Zon. Pleasingly, exactly the same score. Boozy sweetness, caramel and boozy fruits in the aroma, taste is similar. Bit over the top, plenty of body but slightly sickly and the booziness is a bit too much. Rasins, marzipan, not really the amber I was expecting. Tastes almost slightly Belgian. Has a kind of Belgian yeasty thing going on, possibly unintentionally, but not really for me.

Bottle shared at Tokyo Ratebeer Dark Tickers of World Unite Tasting. Thanks Neil! Sweet, fruity caramel nose with some grain and carboard. More caramel and graininess on the palate. Some light cardboard and medicinal notes as it warms. Super sweet. Couldn’t find the hops or all natural water. --- Beer merged from original tick of Suginoya Amber on 05 Mar 2016 at 22:34 - Score: 4

Bottle direct from the brewery via Rakuten. A bit of a gusher on opening which settled down into a beautiful clear amber pour with a thick foamy head that faded into a solid film over the beer. Nice aroma, malty, nutty, toffee, fudge, caramel - a real malt showcase. Medium bodied with a smooth mouthfeel. The taste is malty, a touch nutty but it also has a tanginess... not really that hoppy but alright for all that. A malt forward beer, better in the nose than in the mouth but OK.

Draught at the Brewery’s restaurant in Fukuoka. Very pale copper color. Caramel and toffee nose. Light caramel flavor, with a touch of fruit and some cardboard. Thin and rather tasteless. Not much bad flavor, just almost no taste, and just about no hops. Deficient.
