Bottle at Small World. Initial berry and cherry fruitiness and caramel. Taste is more fruity. Nice stuff. Little prickle. Interesting twist on what's normally a fairly standard style.

Served in my thistle glass, this bottle pours out a clear orange-brown beer with a beige fast-disappearing head that has a bready fruity aroma. Can a beer smell thin? I donβt know why but I got that kind of impression... On closer sniff, the beer has a fruity ripe peach caramel aroma. Medium bodied but sharply carbonated and itβs got a sharp finish. The taste starts intensely fruity: peach, apricot, stone fruit galore then gives you a toasted biscuit and caramel malt hit. Not what I typically expect from a Scotch Ale but a fun brew. Judging on the style guidelines, this is off in terms of a few points at first. But as it warms the malts come to the fore and really enhance the beer with breaded chocolate covered raisin notes and caramel. It really grew on me. ββ-2020 versionββ- Rainy grey day has me wanting something malty, thankfully I still had a bottle of this: Ise Kadoya 90 Shilling Scotch Ale 7% Nice russet color with a thick light beige but fast dissipating topping of foam. Medium bodied and smooth with a raisin and stone fruit flavor and brown sugar malty sweetness. I get some fruit cake vibes from this. I think I let it warm up a bit too much but itβs still a solid fruity example of the style.

Bottle thanks to bu11zeye. Slow gusher. Pours with a huge, foamy, off-white head with a hazy amber body. Aroma of brett, raisin, plum, plastic and caramel. Taste is fruity with a noticeable infection. Vinous and some vinegar. Medium carbonation and dry bodied. I am not entirely sure if they were trying to make the beer taste like this. If so, it is not Jolly Pumpkin by a long shot. Some of their other beers tasted like they had brett, but this is by far the most heavy handed one. Tastes nothing like a scotch ale at all.

Tap at Popeye. A bit of lace on a brilliant orange-amber colored beer. Rich caramel malt. Light fruit, some hops, a touch of alcohol. Mild but sure malt, caramel, good Scotch flavor. Full body, yet not heavy. Not at all cloying. Very well done.

Deep russet color. Has notes of butterscotch, cherries, oranges and milk chocolate in the nose. Alcohol is very well hidden in the body. Smooth mouth with cherries, chocolate and oranges against a big malt backbone. Very butterscotchy, milk chocolatey finish with subtle notes of cherries and caramel. Very nice, but hard to drink more than one pint.
