350ml can at School of Animals, Kuala Lumpur. 7%. Poured a clear dark brown colour with a short-lived, frothy, light tan head. The aroma is roasted malt, light toffee caramel. The flavour is moderate sweet and liqourice bitter, with a smooth, rich, roasty, liqourice, coffee, light red berry fruit, light caramel, light chocolate, liqourice bitter palate. Over medium bodied with average to soft carbonation.

Can under the name Kuro Kura which is listed at 7% ABV bought at Ito Yokado. Drank straight from the can. Nice roasted malt aroma with a hint of coffee on the nose. Slightly creamy mouthfeel initially then the body starts to thin out. Tastes of roasted cacao, toasted kitkat and coffee. The 7% ABV is noticeable and boozy on the finish. Really not bad at all for a can that is starting to pop up a lot more places this year. --- Beer merged from original tick of Iwate Kura Stout on 11 May 2015 at 00:22 - Score: 6

Medium brown head. Opaque black body. Deep mealy chocolatey aroma with milky coffee notes. Dry, sweetish roasty perfumy chocolate taste with mealy wooden notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft oatmealy mouthfeel. Dryish minty roasty aftertaste with perfumy jasmine, oatmeal, and chocolate notes. Also a grainy flavour, reminiscent of barley tea. Nice, harmonic, drinkable. (0.33l bottle, bought at brewery.)

Bottle. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, a touch of sour fruits, good sweetness. Medium roasting. Reasonably sweet flavor, light bitterness, slightly sour and lactic. Rather creamy and chocolaty. Relatively mild and balanced. Medium body as well. A nice stout, but with an espresso-like sourness that is a little irritating.

Pitch black color. Light brown head. Toffee, caramel, nuts hide under the big dark chocolate nose. Nutty sweet, malty mouth that comes across like pouring just the right amount of frangelico into cold coffee. Sweet malty finish. Nice. First stout I would say that is specifically appropriate for Christmas.

Almost black. Aroma is rich and fruity - chocolate covered cherries, new suede jackets and a Luang Prabang-style coffee. Flavour is sweet, mocha-like, with only a light fruitiness. Heavy body, very smooth. Fairly simple, but tasty stuff.
