Tap at Keyaki. Black colour, golden small head. Aroma is roasty, chocolate, bit of smoke. As expected, but still nice. Taste similar, roasty, dark chocolate, some vanilla creaminess, little bite. Slight fruity sweetness too. Pretty good. Nothing unusual but everything you might want In a stout is here.

Draft at fall Keyaki 2014. Part of the North Island taster set. Pitch black with a creamy beige head. Roasted coffee and toffee on the nose. Roasted coffee, creamy baker’s chocolate, with a slight sour undertone. Taste is fairly well-balanced between sweet and bitter with a hint of smokiness. Dry finish. --- Beer merged from original tick of North Island Stout on 30 Mar 2015 at 15:21 - Score: 7

5.5% on tap at Bungalow. It pours a dark cola black with ruby highlights and a light beige creamy looking head. A malty sweet aroma with roast coffee bean notes. Med-full bodied with a spritzy carbonation. The taste is flavorful roasted savory dark chocolate with a bit of bitterness. Easy drinking but quite satisfying. A solid stout.

Draught at the brewery. Pitch black with a nice creamy head. Sweet and sour fresh malt aroma. Creamy, good roasting, sweet-and-sour flavor, on the sweet side, with chocolate. A good sour edge, though. Dark chocolate, milk, not overly sweet. Great balance. Medium body, very crisp.

Pitch black color, big cacao, espresso notes in the nose. Thin mouth (a theme going on here with this brewery). Earthy, espresso, mocha, cacao all play together on the palate. Great depth. A bit sour and balance isn’t there. Very nice lingering bitterness.
