North Island Pilsner 5% 23 IBU Straw gold, soapy eggshell white foam that leaves lots of Belgian lace and a soft herbal and crackery pale malt aroma. Soft mouthfeel and medium to light body. The taste is bitter herbal hops upfront then a touch of grassy hay and pale malts. Clean and refreshing.

Tap at Keyaki fest. Golden colour. Aroma is wheaty, not massive amount else, but decent. Taste is pretty good, wheaty, light hoppiness, good dry finish. Touch of fruit too, almost tropical. Apricot maybe. Pretty good. Getting more into pilsners I think.

Draft at Fall 2014 Keyaki in a North Island sampler. Clear goldenrod color with a small white head. Slight grain and grassy hop aromas present. Mainly grainy taste but a slight citrus flavor comes out as it comes up to room temperature. Refreshing and good mouthfeel. 2015 re-rate: On tap at BBNI. Clear gold with a perfect white head. Grassy aromas still present with some citrus and biscuit notes as well. Crisp and clean on the palate. Very fresh and refreshing. Good biscuit notes on the palate as well and highly drinkable. Creamy buttery finish. Really great in Hokkaido on tap! --- Beer merged from original tick of North Island Pilsner on 16 Jul 2015 at 12:23 - Score: 7

Draught at the brewpub, Nov 2007. Slightly amber color. Very fine, 2cm head. Looks great. Malty aroma with good hops and a bit of citrus. Very fruity, slightly buttery flavor. Some citrus. Good, full malt. Hops light but noticeable. Citrus fruit and hop finish, semi-dry. Very nice.

A malty brew that doesn’t even managed to have a well supported backbone and lacks hops. Goes nowhere quick. Above is 2008 rating. Now in 2014 it is much more improved. Decent backbone, sufficient hops, fairly well integrated beer with some nice toasty malt notes. Really enjoyable.
