Thick, persistent head. Light gold color, translucent with haze created by suspended microparticles. Pleasant piney, grainy taste. Refreshing.

Another mediocre beer by a mediocre company +++Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a very cloudy dark amber-tan color with a huge foamy orange-white head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was tangy orange and lemon with a light peppery undertone. The flavor was bitter and very tart with fairly strong lemon and orange and a vague spicy undertone. Long tart and citric finish. Medium body though a bit overcarbonated. Ok.

Sampled from bottle. Poured a amber color with a small white head. Aroma was hops, rye, malts. Flavor was rye heavy, with notes of mild citrus hops and a pretty decent malts. Good rye beer here.

sampled at 2010 RBSG - Pours a cloudy straw color with a lingering one finger head and some odd little black floaters. Hurm. Well, the brew has a nice floral hop aroma and a pleasantly bitter flavor with obvious rye presence. It’s tasty and enjoyable though nothing that blew me away.

12 ounce bottle from State Line Liquors. Pours a very slightly hazy amber color with a large frothy white head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of spicy rye note, fruity citrus, some caramel. The taste is big bold rye notes, caramel, tropical fruits. Medium bodied. Nice beer.

22 oz. bomber, $5 at Lemon Tree, Downers Grove. An anniversary beer that’s not an alcohol bomb, that’s different. This one pours a big rocky head over a golden ale body, just a tinge of orange pale ale color and a bit of haze. Smell is a nice warm ale smell. Taste is warm and malty, and American Pale Ale hop fill plus the spiciness of rye malt. A fine beer that’s just a little too strong for a session ale, but I could take this down in just a minutes. Slight stickiness on my lips, but with the sting of hop resins.

Bottle from Beers of Europe. Hazy light golden colour, white head. Aroma of citrus, soft malts, hops, little toastiness. Flavour is well hopped, grapefruits, bit of caramel malts. Fairly bitter. Good stuff.

Pours hazy gold into a shaker. Bright white head with medium retention recedes to mottle surface leaving slight lacing. Pepper and pumpernickel aromas. Bitter spruce upfront turning to caramel in the middle before a dark rye finish.
