HUNTER, our creamy double milk stout with cocoa nibs and lactose is a beer so sumptuous it demands respect. In part two of our HUNTER VERTICAL SERIES, we added whole vanilla beans to complement its roastiness with an elegant rounded flavor.

The beer is black with thin brown edges. Medium-sized light brown head. Fades pretty quick, not much lacing. The aroma has a lot of milk chocolate with some lactose-ish sweetness. Vanilla is milder than expected for a vanilla variant of an imperial stout. It’s an ok vanilla flavor, not bad, not great. Pretty big fruity roast character. Some cola. The taste is fairly sweet. Again, a lot of roast with some ok vanilla flavor. It’s just not really bringing enough big, full flavor to the vanilla imperial stout world. Mouthfeel is ok. A little too thin for the lactose and vanilla flavors. Decent but not memorable.

Sample at the "Jackie O’s Staff Bottle Tasting Part 2" on 12/18/2015. The beer pours black with a medium foamy khaki head that recedes steadily. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roast malt, chocolate and vanilla. Medium body with flavors of chocolate malt, vanilla and mild coffee. The finish is roasty with a coffee and malt aftertaste. Pretty good overall.
