An ale brewed with a ridiculous amount of raspberry juice. Fort has a Belgian-style base, then we follow a similar fermentation process to the one we use on beers like 120 Minute IPA and World Wide Stout.
Fort is an excellent candidate for cellaring. Grab a few bottles, enjoy one now and lay the others down for a few years. Want to know when the Fort you find was bottled? Check the 'Bottled On' date on the neck of each bottle.
Fort is also an excellent food beer. Our favorite pairings include anything chocolate or a nice piece of duck.
The Fort label art was designed by our rock-and-roll friend Tara McPherson. Tara also did the label art for our Chateau Jiahu and our 2012 Seasonal Prints and Uber-Tap Handle. Can you tell we kinda love her work?!

(Bottle, 0.75 l, at Pikkulintu, Helsinki, on 2009-04-04, shared with mto, isos and Reksa, thanks!) Red and hazy. Small white head. Alcohol, raspberries and port wine in aroma. Full bodied and dry palate with little carbonation and warmth from alcohol. Port wine, redcurrant, cherries, raspberries, light bitterness and stong alcohol in taste. Raspberries in aftertaste.

A golden amber ale with a thin white head, and speckles of raspberry seeds. In aroma, raspberry puree, menthol and cardboard. In mouth, a rather strange mentolated fruity ale, with notes of sweet corn and wheat malt, light alcohol warmth. Medium bodied. Didnt like this very much. Tasted Nov. 2008

pours cloudy red, small white head. aroma is fresh cherry, faint alc. mouldy. flavor is alc, red berries, red fruits, alc. quite strong. remarkably drinkable when i consider the alc. i wonder how they got abv so high. anyhow, more interesting than good.

Deep amber coloured body with a tan head that fizzles away instantly. Nice aroma of raspberries along with icing sugar and malt. Medium bodied; very strong alcohol flavor with raspberries of course, lemons and a bit of hops (no suprise). After taste shows alcohol, sugars and malt. Overall the beer was too strong and left a lot to be desired. Try it if you can find it but it wasn’t the best Dogfish Head beer. I sampled this 75 cL bottle purchased at Whole Foods in Clarendon, VA on 28-May-2006.

Bottle 75cl.Clear copper amber color with a average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is fruity, raspberry, mustard. Flavor is heavy sweet and moderate to heavy bitter with a long duration. Body is medium to full, texture is syrupy, carbonation is flat, finish feel is light alcoholic. (120908)

Botteled @ EBF 2008. Slightly hazy brownish orange body with a small off-white head. Aroma of raspberry, sweet fruits like raisins and a distinct acidulous cellar note found in some wooden matured Belgium red/brown ales. Flavor is sweet with a balanced bitter sourness, hints of caramel and dry fruit and warming alcohol. This is intense sweet. Almost sticky but somehow the alcohol and the acid is balancing this at some point. Complex, definitive tasteful, a bit odd and very interesting. I could have good time with the aroma from this beer alone.

Dogfish Head Fort Bottle, 75cl corked, at the European Beer Festival, Copenhagen. A hazy copper-colored beer with a small, beige head. Berries, sweetness and a little spicy touch in the aroma. Intense but still wonderful. Quite intense flavor too, with lots of alchol warmth, some caramel and enough sweetness to give it something reminiscent of balance. Full-bodied, sticky and warming in the mouth, and with a lasting finish. Intense, wonderful and really demanding. (080912)

Courtesy of Tony @ OTH. Pours hazy amber. Aroma of crushed raspberries with a lot of sourness. Taste, very very boozy, loaded with nice raspberries, light sour taste that tingles the back palate and cheeks. Some nice caramel malts, but overall it is loaded with alcohol and real fruit puree.

Deep red amber beer with a lasting off-white head. Aroma is dominatedby raspberry and malt, with port and sherry notes from the alcohol, and a touch of...mustard. Sweet and strong flavour, dominated by rapberry and alcohol.

(Bottled, EBF). Clear amber color, no head. Glue-like aroma with some red currant. Red currant and raspberries in the sticky mouthfeel. Kind of portwineish, but lacking the best things in port. Dissapointing.
