Tap at Haymarket. Murky copper brown. Sweet and figgy. OK brewpub Dubbel, but notreally approaching the real thing.

Tap at the brewery - hazy amber - decently done for the style - a lot of earthy, dusty basement yeast qualities add a fair amount of depth - some fruity easters and clove and pepper phenols - all kept in decent balance - malt character is a little lacking - some dark fruit, but overall a little flabby - decent otherwise.

Location: Draft at the brewpub, 5/28/14
Aroma: The nose is sweet malts, caramel, brown sugar, spice, yeast, and some dark fruit
Appearance: It pours a hazed amber-brown color with a fizzy off-white head and average lace
Flavor: The taste is much the same, rich malts, dark fruit, banana, spice, and brown sugar
Palate: The body is medium, it has some stickiness, and a has a smooth mouthfeel
Overall Impression: I thought this was a very solid example of the style. It may be a bit too sweet, but that is on-style too. Pretty solid stuff, especially for fans of the sweeter Belgian styles.

Sample at the brewpub. The beer is a slightly cloudy amber color with a medium light beige head that dissipates steadily to an outer ring. Partial rings of lacing. Aroma of dark malts, fruit and yeast. Medium-bodied with flavors of bready malt, raisins and yeast. The finish is fruity with an earthy yeast aftertaste. Decent overall.

Tap at the Brewpub, Chicago. Poured a clear chesnut brown with a thin off white head. The aroma is burnt toffee sweet. The flavour is medium bitter with a big roasted malt, liqourice, nutty, smooth alcohol, hoppy, spice palate. I really enjoyed this.

On tap at the brewpub. Poured a slightly hazy amber brown with a grayish tan head that dissipated slowly to the edges. Aroma was full of spice with some dark grains and a int of dark fruits. Flavor was similar with the same strong spice note with dark grains and bread as well as some dark fruits. The spice note was a bit strong for me.
