Bottle at Small World. Full on roasty coffee thing going on. Bit of toffee and caramel. Little bit of green pepper. Lightly spicy. Good stuff.

Tap at Takumiya. Nose is coffee and lemon. Flavor gives up rich biscuity malt, some chocolate, a bit of caramel. Coffee is not roasty or sour, works very well with the lemony hops and the biscuity malt. Love it.

Ise Kadoya Costa Rica Coffee Ale 5% A collaboration with Nakamura Coffee. This is a copper colored ale rather than the typical black coffee beer. The aroma is sweet coffee with fruity berry notes (from the hops or the subtle Costa Rican coffee terroir I'm not sure). Medium in body with a round carbonation and a sharp dry finish. There is a bit of eggy yolk like character, lots of bitter coffee and some bitter fruity finish before the coffee returns in the aftertaste. Quite interesting stuff.

Pours golden, nice steady foam on top. Nice coffee chocolate nose, malt biscuits blend well with roasted coffee beans and some bitter chocolate is there as well. Does not look like it though. Taste is smooth, coffee is strong, chocolaty still (I wonder how). Bitterness comes out in mid-taste and finish is dry and hoppy. I like it still feels like a beer, coffee strong in the beginning but finishes like beer - which is great.

Golden color. Very carbonated. Very nice green pepper, coffee bean and grapefruit in the nose. Very nice green pepper, coffee and a touch of chocolate. Very carbonated. Despite being a few months old, this still rocks.
