Backlog June 2009. Dark reddish brown body under a small brown head. Aroma has chocolate, roasted malt and alcohol. Taste is surprisingly smooth with roasted, dark malt, chocolate, coffee, dry fruit, warming alcohol and balanced bitterness. Fine body with long lasting aftertaste.

A soft, thick tan head on a standard near black body. Nose starts with a bourbon booziness, underpinned by Chocolate, cherries, woodiness and a hint of vanilla. Taste profile is smooth creamy and complex. Bourbon, milk chocolate, ripe cherries, rich berries, molasses and roasted caramel malts are all present. There is an oaky element as well and at least ample sweetness. Expected a larger, higher impact taste profile for 11% ABV, but a very tasty Imperial stout nonetheless

0.355 l bottle from 'Beer Republic', bottled in June 2024. Pitch black with a medium large, frothy, slowly diminishing, beige head. Sweetish-malty, gently roasty and slightly fruity aroma of dark chocolate, coffee, fruity bourbon and some vanilla. Quite sweet, malty, rather roasty-bitter, slightly fruity taste of dark chocolate, hard roasted coffee, licorice, some ash, fruity bourbon, some dark fruits and a touch of vanilla, followed by a long, fairly roasty-bitter finish. Medium to full body, smooth and gently effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Intense but lovely brew, fantastic balance, superb barrel-aging. Really good!

Bottle. Very dark amberish-brown. No head. Some lace. Hints of chocolate and vanilla in both aroma and taste.

Bottle at home, courtesy of Cuso, thanks a lot! Black pour with a brownish hue and beige head. Nose is booze, but the most sophisticated kind tbh, also some chocolate, coffee, dried fruits, an earthy-ashy touch. Taste is boozy chocolate, coffee, some bourbon, earthy notes. Closes with a boozy, chocolatey finish, has a light, almost thin body and soft carbonation. Bodywise it’s too light and all the (otherwise alright) notes in the aroma and taste are way too restrained.

Sweet woody bourbon, loads of roasted, charred malts and some very noticeable alcohol. Very full mouth feel with a super soft carb. The finish is quite sweet at the beginning and finished a medium bitter with a great not over powering at all bourbon, woody, vanilla finish. this is how bourbon barrel beers should be. Subtle, not massive barrel bombs.
