We’re calling our Beer Camp collaboration an “Atlantic Vintage Ale” which combines elements from Fullers’ robust Vintage Ales with some American-style hopping techniques. We used plums in the brew to complement Fuller’s naturally fruity yeast strain and we’re bottle conditioning the beer for added longevity. This beer should age well in the bottle for years to come. Drink it now or stash some away to revisit in the future.

Bottle. Clear copper with a thick, off-white head. Malty fruity aroma, with toffee and vanilla. The flavor is sweet and fruity with just a touch of hop bitterness that is a nice addition as it doesn’t interfere with the malty base flavor profile.

Bottle. Plum, caramel malt, alcohol, and hay aroma. Golden yellow with small head. Moderately sweet plum, caramel malt, and moderately bitter hay/alcohol flavor. Good body. Okay - a bit boozy.

12oz bottle. Unfiltered amber-copper body. Steady off-white head. Pretty decent Strong Ale. Not sure what exactly constitutes an English Strong Ale vs. a Barleywine, Old Ale, or Wee Heavy. Mild fruit tones, sort of smoothed over by the plum addition, taking away some of the depth the yeast may have provided. Not really an improvement on the Fullers Vintage series, sort of a streamlined version. I think the plum addition if completely lame, but enjoy seeing a different style explored. OK, well brewed.

Bottle. Pours clear deep orange, small off-white head, dissipates slowly, good lacing. Aroma is light overall, notes of malt, noble hop, plums and orange. Flavor is light plus sweet, light bitter, citrus notes here as well. Medium body, pretty low on carbonation. Meh.

Pour is a murky tan with a large white head. Aroma is some dark fruit with some sugar and some leather. Flavor is a definite plum with a large sweetness and some earthy malt. I don’t think English Strong Ales should be this sweet but this beer did have a nice flavor if you can work around the sweetness. I really liked the plum addition. They were very fresh and flavorful.

Bottle from 2017 Beer Camp case. Pours out a clear, medium amber with small foamy head. Head fades like a pub draft, small skin remains. Malty aroma, toffee, tobacco. Taste comes in sweet, but not over the top, nice caramel malt flavors with a bit of bite from the hops. Plums are faintly detectable. Smooth and easy to drink.
