While we were growing our families and our brewery, we were aging this beer in bourbon barrels previously used for our Barrel-Aged Framinghammer. Lengthy aging allows the 12.6% ABV beer to mellow and develop a deep molasses-like sweetness with port-like dark fruit flavors. This beer is a sipper- you’ve been warned!

On tap at The Ginger Man - Boston, pours a deep dark mahogany with a small off-white head. Aroma is decadent as hell, with loads of bourbon barrels upfront, followed by toffee and caramel. Flavour is likewise highly decadent, with an incredible depth of bourbon barrel character, followed by rich caramel, brown sugar and toffee. The barrels are used wonderfully here. Decadent and refined and assertive. Excellent.

Bottle from Wegman’s. Nose is bourbon, vanilla, chocolate, caramel, light berries. Nutty, treacly flavor, bourbon, vanilla, oak. Prickly booze and hop finish. The level of bourbon in this is excellent. The beer shines through and is not overwhelmed. Super smooth, silky body is lovely. Great stuff.

Tap at Jack's Abby, Framingham. Colour is clear very dark orange with almost no head. Aromas and flavors: Dry fruits, ripe fruits, raisins, some sweetness, some dryness, some distant hints of bourbon, some alcohol. Very heavy but little bit of boozy.

Pours a nice mahogany from a bottle, very little head. Rather clear. Big vanilla and oak buttery aroma (not diacetyl), bit o rum, similar flavor but with a definite molasses note, not too heavy, no burn. Pretty good beer.

Pours deep, clear mahogany into a shaker. No head. Dark caramel, vanilla and resin aromas. Thick with hot, dark caramel-covered pit fruit, vanilla and sweet bourbon front to back. Abv well hidden, but definitely warming.

Sample at Beer Meets Wood on 09/23/2017. Brownish-amber color with a medium beige head that diminishes steadily to a film. Small patches of lace. Aroma of dark fruit, bourbon and malt. Full-bodied with flavors of bourbon, candied fruit, roast malt and vanilla. The finish is oaky vanilla and bourbon. Good beer overall.
