Pours a cloudy bronze color with a thick cream-colored head and excellent retention. Good lacing. Bland nose. Fairly generic lager flavor. A little caramel and bready flavors with minimal hops. The bready malts help hide the 30 IBU. Easy drinking.

This review was imported from my RateBeer ratings.

12 oz. bottle.

AROMA: Scents of bread and citrus

APPEARANCE: Pours a cloudy amber with a tight, white, foamy head that dissipates slowly.

TASTE: Lightly bitter with flavors of citrus, oak, and grass.

PALATE: Medium-bodied with a slick texture and lively carbonation. The finish is dry with a hint of sweetness

OVERALL: A little dry for my tastes, but not overly so. The touch of sweetness on the finish helps balance the dryness. This is a beer that would be very refreshing on a hot day.

Bready aroma. Thick foamy head and a dark amber body. Reminiscent of a lager with a spice on the back of the tongue.

Bottle from Hegedorns, in a 6 lager set. Rich malt nose, some Munich and maybe Vienna, toasty, light caramel, orange, light hops. Cloudy orange-brown. Very malty flavor, a bit sweet, lightly fruity, nice peppery hop finish. Full, smooth body. Well done, if not entirely authentic. Nice drinker.

12 ounce bottle into perfect pint glass, best before 6/2018. Pours slightly hazy deep golden amber/light orange color with a 2 finger dense and rocky off white head with amazing retention, that reduces to a large cap that lasts. Thick soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big cracker, bread dough/crust, toasted biscuit, light nuttiness/pepper, and herbal/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great complexity of bready malt and light-moderate earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big cracker, bread dough/crust, toasted biscuit, light nuttiness/pepper, and herbal/grassy earthiness. Light-moderate herbal, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of cracker, bread dough/crust, toasted biscuit, nuttiness, pepper, and herbal/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of bready malt and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and zero cloying/astringent flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering bitterness. Perfectly clean on lager flavors, no fruity/yeasty notes. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; with a very smooth, creamy/bready/grainy, and fairly sticky mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5%. Overall this is an excellent amber kellerbier! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of bready malt and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; very smooth and refreshing to drink with the mellowly bitter/drying finish. Very clean and rich Pale/Munich malt flavors, with solid earthy hop presence. A very enjoyable offering, and spot on style example. Would not mind this going to 6 packs.

Pours slightly hazed deep gold into a Sam glass. White head with excellent retention recedes to skim surface. Caramel aromas. Soft with sweet caramel and overripe summer pit fruit upfront turning to a mild earthy hop finish.

Sampled from a bottle this beer poured a murky orange-caramel color with a medium sized foamy orange-tan head that lingered and left minimal lacing. The aroma was dryish and perfumey. The flavor was bitter, perfumey and a bit rough. Medium length finish. Medium body. Meh.

Pretty nice. Cloudy orangey-amber color. Nose is bready/yeasty, a touch of caramel or toffee, very faint floral hops. Mouthfeel is smooth and soft, although just a touch of prickly carbonation. Flavors like rye bread, toasty, nicely bitter finish.

Pour is a hazy brown with a large white. Aroma is a decent bready sweet malt with some oak. Flavor is a decent rich bready malt with a touch of caramel and honey. Finish a pleasant toasted malt. This was a decent beer and props to Sam Adams for trying a style that is a little off the beaten path.
