Fest is a delicate balance of malt and hops. With its bready malt character and grassy aromatics, this German-style lager is the perfect go-to for late Summer drinking, lederhosen optiona

12 ounce can into lager glass, best before 12/9/2018. Pours slightly hazy medium golden yellow color with a 1 finger dense and rocky off white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice thick soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of cracker, white bread dough/crust, toasted biscuit, light honey/pepper, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. A bit fruity aromas, but not overwhelming. Nice aromas with good balance of bready malts and light-moderate earthy hop notes; with good strength. Taste of cracker, white bread dough/crust, toasted biscuit, light honey/pepper, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Light-moderate herbal, floral, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of cracker, white bread dough/crust, toasted biscuit, light honey, pepper, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice robustness and balance of bready malts and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and no cloying/astringent flavors after the finish. Very clean on lager flavors, with minimal fruity/yeasty notes present. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering bitterness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/grainy, and fairly crisp/sticky balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5.5%. Overall this is a very good Munich Helles. All around nice robustness and balance of bready malts and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; very smooth and fairly crisp/refreshing to drink with the modestly bitter/drying finish. Nicely clean and rich Pils/Munich malt showcase, and great noble hop presence/balance. A very enjoyable offering, and well made style example.

Draft. A- Juicy fruit, gum, straw, biscuits. A- Gold color, clear liquid, white head. T- Gum, fruity, wheat, sweet rolls, mild spice. P- Light body, average texture, average carbonation, balanced finish. O- Smooth and balanced. For a style I don't like this was really easy to toss back.

Can from Wegman’s. Creamy malt nose, orange, biscuits, honey in a somewhat Belgian way. Deep gold, very bubbly, low head. This is past d/b, I now see. Rich and malty, honey, somewhat bock-like and certainly oxidized. Smooth and full. Nice but hard to judge as a helles.

Can. Pour is somewhat pale yeller. Rocky head. Thin sweeter nose. Taste is certainly fest but it is so much more civilized than many fest beers, yes, well behaved, friendly easy and almost yummy. Mild example of what a fest beer can be. Fresh easy with almost cutting carbonation. Well done. Not as good as Climax Hoffmann Oktoberfest but better than Breckenridge Oktoberfest, Genesee Oktoberfest , Michelob Marzen , Penn Mrzen , Blue Point Oktoberfest ,Wolters Mrzen (Festbier) Yuengling Oktoberfest , Roundabout Oktoberfest , Straub Oktoberfest & even Old German Festival Lager, and I really like that stuff.

Bottle picked up for 2.50, 1 month after best by date. Unfiltered orange-tan body. Frothy, steady, glass rimming bright white head. Bready, easy drinking...in its not so fresh state it reminds me a lot of a Landbier...mellow earthy tones. Pretty drinkable and mellow. OK.

Bomber from The Malt Shoppe, 9/21/16. Clear golden copper, large foamy white head, good retention. Aroma of toasted pale malt, earthy and herbal notes, mild caramel. The taste is toasted malt, citrus hops, dry caramel. Medium bodied, refreshing, moderate carbonation, well balanced.

Pour is a clear golden with a large white head. Aroma is a nice almost raw bread dough malt with some bitter hops. Flavor is more of the nice lager malt it is not as bitter as I thought but there is a decent amount of hops after the swallow. This Is a pretty solid take on the style with a real nice lager malt bill.

Bomber from Craft Beer Kings. Pours bright gold with a white head. Aroma is bready, and it’s making me think more of garlic than grass. Or grassy garlic? Med body, or nearly. Flavor is bready, and it is grassy - not garlicy!!!!! I’m liking this a lot compared to Marzens. Long time since I’ve had a Dortmunder. Remembering an imported can in a bar in Tiajuana many decades a go. The can was the real deal! Anyway this is a very drinkable lager.
